The Effectiveness of Cognitive Hypnosis Therapy on Women’s Body Image and Marital Satisfaction of Couples

Abstract:

Introduction: Mental image of the body and marital satisfaction is one of the most important psychological issues for women. According to research reports, negative or positive attitudes of women towards the mental image of their body affect their marital relationships. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive hypnosis therapy on women’s body image and marital satisfaction of couples. Methods and Materials: The current research is an experimental pre-test post-test design. The statistical population of this study includes women referring to Babolsar Healing Counseling Center. In this study, 22 people were selected through availability method. Then they were randomly divided in to two groups of experimental and control groups. The Littleton Body Image Scale (BICI) and Enrich Marital Satisfaction have been used as an instrument of this study. Data were analyzed using analysis of covariance. Results: The results of statistical analysis showed that cognitive hypnotherapy is effective in increasing marital satisfaction (F=17.92 P<0.001) and improving body image (P=0.002 P<0.005) in women. Discussion and Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, it can be mentioned that cognitive hypnosis therapy increases marital satisfaction, body image, quality of life in women by eliminating misconceptions, increaseing accuracy and concentration and awareness.
